Cristian Romero has scored his first goal as Argentina captain, heading home to give the World Cup holders a 3-0 lead over Bolivia in the second half of their international friendly in Córdoba.

Romero connected with a cross from Nico Paz following a corner and directed his header into the net, extending Argentina’s advantage in the first match since Lionel Messi’s retirement from international football.
Romero was appointed captain for the fixture as Argentina begin preparations for the post-Messi era.
The Atlético Madrid defender was handed the captain’s armband by coach Lionel Scaloni, who had described him as one of the options to take over the leadership role following Messi’s departure.
Emiliano Martínez and Lautaro Martínez were also identified as alternatives.
