Calls for Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to resign have intensified following the Black Stars’ 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The defeat triggered anger among supporters at the stadium, with Okraku heckled by fans and an incident reported in which a supporter attempted to confront him.
Calls have since emerged for changes at the GFA, including demands for Okraku’s resignation and, from some quarters, the dissolution of the association.
Former National Sports Authority chief executive Seth Panwum has also called for Okraku’s resignation, describing the result as a serious warning about the direction of Ghanaian football and demanding accountability from the GFA leadership.
The pressure follows Ghana’s second consecutive defeat in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign, after the Black Stars previously lost 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.
