The international friendly between Ghana and Morocco, scheduled for October 4 in Tangier, has been cancelled following consultations between the two football federations.
The match was expected to be played at the Grand Stade de Tanger as part of the October international window, but the fixture will no longer take place.
The cancellation comes after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their opening two 2027 AFCON qualifying matches.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed that the Black Stars would not travel to Morocco for the fixture. GFA communications director Henry Asante told Moroccan publication Hesport that Ghana had informed the Moroccan Football Federation of the decision and thanked the Moroccan side for its understanding.
The GFA has not publicly disclosed a specific reason for the cancellation. Reports in Moroccan media have linked the decision to internal issues within the Ghana camp, including alleged disputes over player financial entitlements, but those claims have not been officially confirmed by the GFA.
Morocco are now expected to face Mali instead of Ghana during the international window.
The cancellation follows the departure of Carlos Queiroz as Black Stars head coach, with the GFA and the Portuguese coach agreeing on October 1 to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
