The Ghana Police Service says Harold Norman, husband of fashion personality Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned after his discharge from hospital over allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said Nana Akua petitioned the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to the various forms of abuse. The Police disclosed the development in response to viral videos that have recently circulated online and generated public concern.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations established that a previous case involving the couple had been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

Following the August petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. He subsequently provided a caution statement and was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29, pending further investigations.

Norman was scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to attend.

The CID said DOVVSU investigators have since visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure that Norman is arraigned immediately after his discharge.

The Police further disclosed that they are working with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare services for Nana Akua and her children.

The Police statement does not disclose the specific charges Norman is expected to face in court.
