The National Council of Parents-Teachers Associations (NCPTA) has warned parents of first-year Senior High School students against paying GH¢1,617 to EduPack PGL for a package of prospectus items.

The Council said the company, also known as Prospectus Ghana Limited, had been circulating messages through SMS, WhatsApp and other platforms directing parents to pay for a metal trunk or suitcase, plastic chop box, Macintosh mattress and Macintosh pillow, which it says are to be collected on SHS campuses.

The NCPTA said parents should not purchase the items from the company, stressing that they remain free to obtain prospectus items from the open market.

The warning follows a disclaimer from the Ghana Education Service (GES), which, according to the NCPTA, has stated that it did not sanction, direct or authorise parents to engage EduPack PGL.

The Council said the company had no approval from the NCPTA to represent parents or sell prospectus items on their behalf.

It further argued that requiring parents to purchase items from a single supplier at a fixed price on school campuses amounted to the commercialisation of the school admission process.

The NCPTA commended GES for distancing itself from the arrangement but called for further action against the company and anyone facilitating the sales.

It urged GES to use its legal and administrative powers to sanction any school head who permits what it described as unauthorised sales on school premises.

The Council also called on GES to take legal action against EduPack PGL and any entity allegedly using the GES logo to mislead or defraud parents.

Regional, District and School PTA executives have meanwhile been urged to remain vigilant and report any such sales or enforcement to the NCPTA Secretariat and GES.
