The National Communications Authority (NCA) has cleared three companies to proceed to the next stage of Ghana’s 5G spectrum licensing process, while disqualifying one applicant following its eligibility and technical assessments.
The qualified applicants are Scancom Plc (MTN Ghana), Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel Ghana), and Goal Telecommunications Ltd.
Infrav Ltd was the only applicant that did not meet the requirements to proceed.
The NCA said it received four applications by the September 27, 2026 deadline for spectrum licences in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz bands.
The first stage of the process involved an Eligibility Review and Technical Qualification Assessment under Envelope A of the Request for Applications.
The Authority said all four applicants had been informed of the outcome of their applications, including reasons where applicable.

With the qualification stage now complete, only the three successful applicants will proceed to Stage 3 of the selection process.
The NCA said the Envelope B submission from the non-qualified applicant, Infrav Ltd, will not be opened.
The qualified applicants will be notified separately of the date, time and venue for the opening and ranking of their Best Price Offers.
The development marks the next phase in Ghana’s process of allocating spectrum for 5G services, with the NCA expected to assess the financial offers of the remaining applicants before determining the successful licence awards.
