A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 (US$1.15) in damages over the armed robbery she suffered at a luxury hotel in the French capital in 2016.
The symbolic compensation was the amount Kardashian had requested in the civil case, nearly 10 years after masked robbers broke into her room at the Hôtel de Pourtalès during Paris Fashion Week and stole more than US$6 million worth of jewellery.
Two of the attackers, disguised as police officers, forced their way into Kardashian’s suite, tied her up and held her at gunpoint before fleeing with the jewellery. Her US$4 million engagement ring was among the items stolen, and most of the jewellery has never been recovered.
Kardashian had testified during the criminal trial in 2025 that the incident was deeply traumatic and that she feared she would die.
The Paris court found eight people guilty last year for their roles in the robbery. Because the convicted individuals had already spent time in pre-trial detention, none returned to prison after the verdict.
Kardashian and her stylist, Simone Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, both received the symbolic €1 awards.
Other parties in the civil proceedings received substantially larger sums. A former receptionist at the hotel was awarded €109,516 (about US$126,472) after seeking €550,000 in damages and interest, while the Hôtel de Pourtalès received €50,000.
In a joint statement, Kardashian and Harouche said the decision was not about the amount of compensation but about accountability and recognition of what they had experienced.
