Patience Enyonam Akyianu, Group Chief Executive Officer of Hollard Ghana and former Managing Director of Barclays Bank Ghana, has reportedly died.

The CEO Network Ghana announced her death in a statement, describing Akyianu as a distinguished business leader and extending condolences to her family, colleagues and friends.

The circumstances surrounding her reported death had not been independently confirmed at the time of publication.

Akyianu had more than two decades of experience in banking and finance. She served in senior positions at Barclays Bank Ghana, including Finance Director, before becoming the bank’s Managing Director, a position she held for five years.

She moved from Barclays to Hollard Ghana Holdings in October 2018, becoming the group’s first Chief Executive Officer following the consolidation of Hollard’s insurance operations in Ghana.

At Hollard, she led efforts to expand insurance access, develop customer-focused products and strengthen the company’s presence in the Ghanaian market.

Her career also included board and professional leadership roles, including as a founding member of the Executive Women Network and the International Women’s Forum, Ghana.

In May 2025, she received the Millennium Excellence Award for Finance and Capital Market Excellence in recognition of her contribution to Ghana’s financial services sector.

Further details about her death are expected from her family.
