Paulo Dybala and Nahuel Molina will miss Lionel Messi’s farewell match for Argentina after AS Roma decided not to release the two players to travel to Buenos Aires for the October 6 fixture against Benin.

Roma said the decision was based on sporting and logistical considerations, including the length of the intercontinental journey and the proximity of the club’s upcoming competitive fixtures.
The club acknowledged the significance of the occasion, noting that both players were part of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning team alongside Messi.

The absence means Messi will not have two of his former World Cup-winning teammates present for his final scheduled appearance for Argentina at the Estadio Monumental. Roma has nevertheless wished Messi and the Argentine Football Association a special farewell occasion.
