The Ministry of Education has postponed the release of the 2026/2027 Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placement results from Monday, August 31, to Friday, September 4.
The delay follows concerns that about 20,000 qualified students have yet to have their school choices and other required information uploaded onto the placement system.
Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, announced the change in a statement on Saturday, saying the extension follows requests from parents, guardians and heads of schools for more time to complete outstanding submissions.
He said the additional four days would ensure that eligible students are not left out of the placement exercise because of incomplete data.
“This extension will enable all qualified students to complete the required processes and ensure their information is recorded in the system for placement in Senior High Schools and TVET institutions,” Mohammed said.
According to the Ministry, approximately 20,000 candidates are affected by the incomplete submissions.
The additional window will allow parents, guardians and school administrators to complete and upload outstanding information before the placement process is finalised.
The Ministry has, however, cautioned that no further extension will be granted beyond Friday, September 4, urging all affected parties to use the additional time to complete the required processes.
The postponement affects all candidates seeking admission to SHS and TVET institutions for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is used to allocate qualified students to SHS and TVET institutions based on their academic results and selected school choices.
The Ministry has not yet indicated whether the four-day delay will affect the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.
