The Ghana Police Service will begin the full implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH, its automated traffic law enforcement programme, from October 1, 2026, as part of efforts to curb road indiscipline and improve compliance with traffic regulations.
The programme, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), will use cameras and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices to detect traffic offences and support enforcement on Ghana’s roads.
Under the system, detected offences will be reviewed before Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) are issued to vehicle owners or drivers via SMS.
The electronic notices will indicate the traffic offence committed as well as the prescribed fine.
The Police Service said the automated enforcement system is intended to strengthen compliance with road traffic laws and contribute to reducing road crashes and casualties.
It has therefore urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to comply with traffic regulations as the full implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH begins.

The programme forms part of the Police Service’s broader efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads through technology-driven traffic enforcement.
