President John Dramani Mahama has cut sod for the construction of the $1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City Project, a major mixed-use development in Accra’s Airport City enclave.

The project, being developed by Sentuo Group, will feature 582 premium apartments, a 600-room hotel and a 2,500-capacity conference facility, alongside healthcare facilities, a shopping mall, landscaped gardens and other commercial and leisure amenities.

The development is expected to create economic opportunities through construction activity, job creation and increased demand for local goods and services.

President Mahama said the value of the project should not be measured only by the scale of the buildings but also by the quality of the urban environment it creates and the opportunities it delivers to Ghanaians.

Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare welcomed the investment and commended the developers for their confidence in Ghana’s economy.

The project includes residential, hospitality, commercial and conference facilities and is expected to expand Accra’s capacity to host business meetings, exhibitions and other international events.

Construction and eventual operations are also expected to generate opportunities for Ghanaian workers and businesses across areas including construction, hospitality, catering, transport and property management.
