National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been removed from office by President John Dramani Mahama, bringing his tenure at the state sports body to an end.
His dismissal comes less than a month after President Mahama dissolved the NSA governing board amid concerns over the management and condition of Ghana’s sporting facilities.
It also follows scrutiny surrounding an alleged World Cup visa facilitation scheme, over which the NSA boss and some officials were reportedly questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department. The NSA has denied authorising the alleged scheme and said it was cooperating with the police investigation.
Ampofo Ankrah was appointed NSA Director-General in March 2025, replacing acting Director-General Seth Panwum.
